[Class 99 (i)] A hose x with metal reinforcement x2 is coupled to an end fitting b by a plurality of deformable rings c, Fig. 4, which are located between the hose and an enlarged sleeve portion b2 of the end fitting and are contracted to bite into the hose and compress it onto a spigot a of said end fitting by reducing the diameter of the sleeve b2 by a pressing or drawing operation. The end of the hose is adapted to seat against a shoulder b3 in the end fitting, and the end of the hose covering is removed to accommodate the rings c ; further the sleeve b2 is provided internally with circumferential grooves b5. In a modification, the rings c are replaced by a ferrule, Fig. 5, which is formed internally with circumferential ridges &c. c5 and is screwthreaded externally to engage a corresponding thread in the sleeve b2.
