[Class 9 (ii)] [See also Group XXXVI] A split cap or collar with which is associated a screw or screws is adapted to be secured about the body of a flare, landing light, smoke cloud bomb, or the like and is provided with mechanical and electrical coupling means for attaching the flare to an aircraft and connecting it to an electric system. As shown, the split collar 5, which is tightened about a flare 14 of the kind described in Specification 400,213, by a screw 2, is provided with a stirrup 3, 4 for attachment to a release hook 18, and an insulated block 6 secured in the collar is provided with terminals for connection to leads 15 from the flare and having contacts adapted to co-operate with spring contact pins 21 in an insulating block 20 on the aircraft.
