452,404. Alternating-current motors. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES., 1, Hofstrasse, Zug, Switzerland. April 29, 1936, No. 12146. Convention date, June 15, 1935. [Class 35] [See also Group XVIII] A clock normally driven by a synchronous motor 3 and having an auxiliary movement, with escapement 25, in reserve is characterized in that the escapement is released by the residual rotation of the motor when the rotor axis is moved axially on current failure. When current flows, the axially acting magnetic force of the motor 3 moves the axis 5 of the rotor 4 to the right, Fig. 2, against lever 8 and spring 6. When current falls below a predetermined minimum, spring 6 moves axis 5 to the left so that a cam 9, as it rotates to rest, rocks a bellcrank 13 to raise a spring 12 and release the escapement 25. A pin 26 on crank 13 locks behind lug 27 on a lever 16 until the motor is again energized and rotates disc 18 and pin 17 to lower the lug 27.
