[Class 125 (iii)] A container cap 11 of the skirted type, the skirt 10 carrying the securing means 13, is provided with a sealing device comprising a backing layer 16 of resilient material such as pulp board &c. and of a diameter greater than the inner diameter of the securing means, and a layer 17 of plastic adhesive material such as guttapercha, raw rubber, &c. adapted to be extruded as a fin 24 on the application of pressure. The fin 24 by contact with the side of the cap, obviates loss or accidental removal of the sealing device. The extrusion of the plastic material is conveniently effected by means of a heated plunger. A facing disc 18 of metal foil, varnished paper, &c. covers the plastic material which serves to secure the several parts of the sealing device together.
