[Class 141] [Also in Group VIII] A girdle &c. for pyjamas &c. is composed of a warp knitted fabric in which the end portions are knitted with shorter stitches than the central portion and is inextensible longitudinally. At the change from the closer portion 1, Fig. 1, to the slacker portion 2, the stitch length is increased by taking up the fabric at a faster rate. The central portion may be contracted in width by inserting weft threads d, Fig. 6, across the full width in each or in selected courses. According to the Provisional Specification, a girdle or belt for personal wear is formed in which the degree of tightness or stiffness of the fabric is varied at selected portions of its length.
