[Class 64 (ii)] Steam is supplied through pipe 1 to a mixing preheater 2 serving also as an expansion vessel for the system. Hot water passes through pump 3 to a flow pipe 4, which supplies consumers 5, and also to a mixing valve 9 to which colder water is also supplied through pump 10 and pipe 11. Water at a predetermined lower temperature is supplied through pipe 12 to consumers 13 and returned through pipe 14. Return water from both circuits passes through pipe 7 to the preheater 2. Another mixing valve 16 receives water from pipes 4, 11 for supply to consumers 18. The pumps 3, 10 may be arranged in a common housing. The water may also be heated by waste steam from prime movers in apparatus inserted in pipes 11, 14 or 15. Separate mixing valves may be provided for each consumer.
