[Class 41] The disperse phase of a colloidal dispersion is deposited electrophoretically on a plurality of diaphragms disposed between the diaphragms separating off the electrode spaces. The diaphragms are preferably disposed at right angles to the current direction. The spaces between them may be in intercommunication. The diaphragms may be removed from the cell for stripping off the deposit or they may be in continuous movement into and out of the cell for this purpose. Instead of separate diaphragms a single diaphragm undulated to present a number of effective surfaces may be employed. Dispersions of gelatin, pectin, albumen of serum, organic dyestuffs or rubber may be treated. Specifications 492,030 and 505,752 are referred to.
