[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXI] Means for conveying grain and like purposes comprise two driven carrier members each movable in a closed path, parts of the paths being adjacent, a series of grab components pivotally mounted on 'each carrier member, means for guiding the components of each series along the adjacent parts of the paths so that they co-operate with the components of the other series to constitute a series of grabs, and further guiding means for rocking said components into operative grabbing position as they approach the adjacent parts of the paths and for rocking them to discharging position as they leave the adjacent parts of the paths. A frame 1 carries guides 2, 21 on which run spaced pairs of endless chains 4, 4'; the upper and lower parts of the guides may comprise wheels. Scoops 5, 51 are pivoted between the pairs of chains, rollers 3, 3' holding the scoops to the work as they pass round the lower ends of the guides; adjacent scoops co-operate to form a grab as they rise, the scoops then dumping through hoppers 7 and being guided in their descent by guides 12. The apparatus may be supported and adjusted by endless driven chains 8, 8' which, between their guide pulleys 9, 11 and 91, 111 may be gripped between the chains 4, 41 and engage teeth on the latter to drive them.
