[Class 142 (iv)] [Also in Groups XI and XXXIII] A woven fabric for use as an electric heating element, e.g. for de-icing aircraft propellers has spaced zones 1 comprising metal wire warp threads and spaced zones 3 of weft threads in the form of metal wire connecting the wire warps in parallel, the zones of warp and weft wires being separated by zones 2, 4 of electrically insulating threads. The insulating threads may be of cotton, silk, asbestos or glass fibre. By cutting the weft threads in a zone between two adjacent zones of wire warp threads and cutting the warp threads between zones of wire weft threads, a zone of wire warp threads connected in parallel by the wefts, can be connected in series with warp threads in an adjacent zone.
