[Class 80 (ii)] An annular plate 14 of angle crosssection secured to one shaft end is connected by rubber-like material 11 12 to an annular disc 16 fixed to another shaft end, the material 11, 12 being rein forced by an annular ring 18 of angle cross-section. The rubber-like material is surface bonded to the metal parts Torsional, lateral and axial deflections of the connected shafts result in shear strain of the rubber-like material. The portion 11 of the rubber-like material may taper towards the coupling axis and may be duplicated as in Fig. (not shown).
