569,699. Electrically heated clothing. SUMMERS, A. V., and SUMMERS, V. R. Sept. 3, 1943, Nos. 14395 and 21037. [Class 39 (iii)] An electrically heated jacket is made of an inner layer 2 of windproof cloth, an intermediate layer 3 of felt, and an outer layer 4 of windproof cloth, with heating coils 5 of steel wire stitched at each turn to the layer 2. The heating coils are distributed uniformly over the jacket except over the elbow joints. Supply leads 6, 7 pass respectively to connectors 9, 10, 11 and 12, 13, 14 and heating elements 5 are connected in parallel to pairs of the connectors. A socket connector 32 is also connected in parallel, to receive a plug from the similarly heated trousers portion of the garment which may be similarly connected to the boots, and further heaters 5 in the sleeves are also connected in parallel. A parallel-connected socket 31 is provided on each sleeve to receive a plug connection from the glove. The connectors 9, 10, 11, &c., preferably consist of a piece of soft metal or alloy, e.g. a lead seal.
