577,299. Thermal switches ; snap-action switches. AVELING-BARFORD, Ltd., and STOKES, J. S. Aug. 18, 1944, No. 15798. [Class 38 (v)] A hand-reset switch for protecting the heater elements of sterilizers &c., is tripped by a thermally-releasable striker operating a latch. A tube 1 brazed to the heater 3 encloses a bimetallic clip 4 holding the end 5 of the striker 6 against the action of a spring 11. A latchlever 23, pivoted at 22 and having a latchsurface 25, is moved by the adjustable head 12 of the striker against the action of a spring 27, and so releases a frame 18 carrying the movable bridging contact 19, which opens under the action of a spring 20. The motion of the frame 18 carries outwards a push-button 31, slidable therein, and when this is pressed, the contact 19 is reclosed and the end of the plunger 28 engages the lever 23 to reset the striker.
