Errors due to absorption effects in a condenser are compensated by connecting a network in circuit with the condenser having a time constant of the order of magnitude of that of the absorption effect, and the values are such that the circuit is equivalent to an ideal condenser shunted by a high resistance. A buffer amplifier may be inserted between the condenser and the network. The network as shown may comprise a series branch formed by a resistance R3, and a shunt branch formed by a resistance R' and a capacity C3 in series. Alternative networks may be a series branch comprising a resistance and capacity in parallel, and a shunt branch comprising a capacity; a series branch comprising a resistance and inductance in parallel, and a shunt branch formed by a resistance; a series branch formed by an inductance, and a shunt branch formed by an inductance and resistance in series.
