Class 75(iv) A light fixture providing both general, and concentrated reading, illumination in passenger vehicles comprises a pair of laterally enclosed chambers 19, 20 arranged one behind the other above an exposed f a c e plate 18, one chamber 19 housing a light source 25 which transmits through a diffusing panel 29 in the face plate, and the other chamber 20 having two light sources 27 each co-operating with a beam directing lens 33 carried by a tubular member 30 or 31 extending into the chamber 20 from the face plate 18, the longitudinal axis of the two tubular beamdirecting assemblies 30, 33 and 31, 33 being disposed to converge in front of the face plate in a transverse plane through the chamber 20. As shown, the face plate 18 is hinged at one side to a securing flange 15 of the one-piece chamber structure and is formed with the tubular lens-carrying members 30, 31. The chamber 19 is triangular in transverse section and the chamber 20 has a V-shaped top wall to screen the two lamps 27 from each other. The lamps 25 and 27 are operated respectively by two master switches under the control of the vehicle operator, but each lamp 27 is provided additionally with an individual switch 37 forming part of the fixture, for passenger operation. In a modified fixture the chamber 20 may be of rectangular section with a centre depending screen to shield the two lamps 27 from each other.
