The apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified by providing a pivoted end wall 40 to cover the mouth of the container 1. This wall carries (1) a cylindrical member 5 having an external diameter approximately equal to the internal diameter of the blade wheel 2, (2) steps 45 for the operators, (3) a receptacle 46 for clearance losses and (4) a sealing rim 47. The wall is displaced about the pivot 41 by the linkage 43, 44 which is actuated by compressed air acting on the piston of a cylinder 42. A blade wheel 48 for clearance losses is provided between the wheel 2 and the cover. Low inclined guide plates 49 are provided between the blades 4 of the wheel.
