Class 52(iii) A music rest of the kind disclosed in Specification 452,862 comprises one or more unitary supporting means each having one or more supporting members pivoted to a plate which is secured to the piano lid. As shown, the edge 10 of the piano lid is cut away to provide recesses each of which accommodates a unitary folding music rest which lies flush with the edge when the unit is folded. Each unit consists of a back plate 13 having apertures for wood-screws 14 and music supporting members 15, 16 pivoted to the base plate by a rivet 9 having an enlarged head 17 and cut away at 19, 20 so that the folded members are accommodated within the width of the edge of the piano lid. Spring detents 25 in the members engaging apertures 26 in the plate 13 locate the members in a number of position and a peg 21 in the plate 13 locates the members in the closed position. The members 15, 16 may be formed of synthetic resin, having a metal sheath 27, or of wood, a metal plate being secured by wood screws to the ends which are pivoted to the back plate 13.
