In a vibratory inverter system in which a tuned capacitor/inductor oscillatory circuit is associated with the load circuit so as to modify the waveform of the current pulses through the inverter contacts in such a way as to reduce sparking, these contacts are enclosed in a gastight chamber filled with an inert gas such as hydrogen or nitrogen. The contacts thereby retain their shape and consequently their value of contact resistance, and the impedance values of the circuit components and therefore current waveform remain constant. The invention may utilize the systems described in Specifications 632,469, 637,938, 648,045 and 649,200, the circuits forming the subject of the last of these Specifications being described again.
