The arrangement is particularly adapted for use in connection with engines in which provision is made for injecting water into the combustion chamber. In this case, the valve 2 which may be operated manually or otherwise is fully open when no water is being injected and is closed when water is being injected to obtain an increased delivery from the pump. As shown, the burners x are supplied by a variable delivery swashplate pump b as described in Specification 577,016, [Group XXIX]. The obliquity of the swash-plate d is controlled by a spring-loaded servo-piston q itself controlled by a vent valve n actuated by the diaphragm i through a spring-loaded lever k. The diaphragm is loaded by a tension spring j and fuel from the radial passages u of the pump rotor a has access to the compartment g through a restricted orifice v.
