Class 17 (2) Outsoles of soling material other than leather, e.g. those based on natural or synthetic rubber, are attached to shoe bottoms by coating the former with diisocyanate-modified polyester-amide and a curing agent therefor, and the latter with a non-curing type of adhesive such as nitro-cellulose and pressing the parts together. The nitro-cellulose may be applied in solution by a machine to the shoe bottom and allowed to dry and the mixture is applied to the sole and while there is still organic solvent remaining in the mixture the parts are pressed together. Alternatively, both the solution of nitro-cellulose and the mixture may be applied and allowed to stand and dry until appreciable curing of the mixture has taken place and a solvent of nitrocellulose is applied to one or other of the parts before pressing them together.
