710,570. Tube joints. WESTDEUTSCHE MANNESMANNROHREN AKT.-GES. Nov. 15, 1951 [Nov. 16, 1950], No. 26827/51. Class 99 (1). [Also in Group XXII] Two metal members e.g. steel tubes having different coefficients of thermal expansion are connected by means of an intermediate element consisting of two brazed or welded overlapped tubes, each overlapped tube being welded to a member and having the same coefficient of expansion as the member. In an embodiment a steel tube a, Fig. 1, having the larger coefficient is welded to a tube c forming the inner part of the intermediate element a tube d being telescoped over and welded to the tube c and also welded to the steel tube b of the smaller coefficient of expansion. An intermediate element may be produced from a double walled brazed or welded tube the ends of which are upset to the form shown in Fig. 3 and then machined to the dotted lines to form a uniform thickness tube.
