摘要
Material for reconditioning and preserving leather having a rough surface is made by mixing together an adhesive, a pigment in powder form and a wax-like or greasy material such as is commonly used as a cosmetic ingredient, drying the mixture and granulating it, and then compressing the granulated material into the form of bars, blocks or tablets. In an example, 600 parts by weight of a pigment, such as lamp-black, and 330 parts of a 5 per cent. solution of dextrin in water are kneaded together. In a separate steam-heated agitator, 25 parts of stearin are heated to 90 DEG C., and when molten mixed with 25 parts of technical glycerine and 20 parts a fatty alcohol sulphonate, such as sulphoricinolic acid. The molten mixture is then cooled to 30 DEG C. and added to the remaining material, and the whole kneaded together for about one hour. It is then dried for about 12 hours at 40 DEG C., granulated, and shaped to tablets, blocks or bars in a compressing machine. The stearin may be replaced by other wax-like materials and the fatty alcohol sulphonate by other emulsifying agents.
