723,505. Turbine blades. PARSONS & MARINE ENGINEERING TURBINE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION. Aug. 31, 1953 [Nov. 18, 1952], No. 29138/52. Class 110 (3). A turbine nozzle assembly comprises hollow non-metallic blades of materials, such as ceramics, which retain their strength at high temperatures, the blades being supported at both ends in such a way that they are free to expand both lengthwise and chordwise. Hollow blades a are freely supported in recesses g, h in outer and inner ring segments b, c. The blades and segments are of ceramic material. The segments have interlocking ends, and the outer segments b are formed with grooves d which receive a circumferential binding wire e. The blade ends occupying the recesses g,. h may be sprayed with metal to enhance uniformity of distribution of the supporting stresses.
