摘要
Copolymers are prepared by copolymerizing in aqueous emulsion in the presence of a regulating agent vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, and another copolymerizable vinyl compound which may be styrene, a copolymerizable derivative of styrene, an acrylic acid ester, a methacrylic acid ester or acrylonitrile, the vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride being each used in quantities amounting to at least 15 per cent of the combined weight of the copolymerizable substances, and the other copolymerizable vinyl compound being used in quantities amounting to 1 to 25 per cent, preferably about 5 per cent, of the combined weight of vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride. The regulating agent may be a dialkyl, e.g. diisopropyl, xanthogen disulphide, chloroform or carbon tetrachloride, and the vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride are preferably used in equal proportions by volume. The reaction may be catalysed by potassium persulphate, as emulsifier there may be used a sodium salt of a longchain paraffin sulphonate or a paraffin sulphonate, and sodium pyrophosphate may be added to stabilize the emulsion. The polymers are soluble in aromatic solvents, ketones, esters and chlorinated hydrocarbons and are compatible with linseed oil, linseed oil varnish, wood oil, alkyd resins, colophony/maleic acid resins and xylene/formaldehyde resins and chlorinated rubber, and may be used for the production of films and coatings. The polymerization latices may be used as emulsion lacquers after addition of plasticizers and dyestuffs.
