For the past thiry years,the SMC (sheet molding compound) and BMC (bulk molding compound) industries have been using the approach of adding specific thermoplastic polymers as low profile additives (LPA) in the unsaturated polyester resins (UP) to reduce or even eliminate the polymerization shrinkage during the cure process.
