摘要
Coatings and foils having a matt, porous, and non-adherent surface are produced from pastes which do not gel until heated of polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers, by adding thereto fillers containing in physically combined form a liquid, preferably water, which is insoluble in the plasticizer, and which is volatile at ordinary gelling temperature, applying the resulting mass to a substrate and heating to gelling temperature. Plasticizers specified are diamyl phthalate, dihexyl sebacate, dioctyl phthalate, dioctyl adipate, tricresyl phosphate, an ester from fatty acids of 7 to 9 carbon atoms and triethylene glycol, the diester from thiobutyric acid and 4-chlorbutanol-1, and the ester of pentaerythritol with fatty acids of 4 to 6 carbon atoms. Fillers specified are bentonite, kieselguhr, silica gel, wood meal, cork meal, and fibre or fabric dust. The pastes may also contain small amounts of oily silicates to render the final products water repellent. The driving off of the volatile liquid during the gelling process renders the coatings and foils porous, and this porosity may be improved by the addition to the polyvinyl chloride pastes of agents which liberate gas on heating such as ammonium bicarbonate, diazoaminobenzene, the monohydrazone of benzil, esters and amides of azodicarboxylic acids, azodi-isobutyric acid dinitrile, and azodi-hexahydrobenzoic acid dinitrile; these gas generating agents may be added to the pastes in solution, or the fillers may be impregnated therewith.
