761,614. Batch mixing-machines. REIFFEN, E. A. July 22, 1954 [Sept.15, 1953], No. 21361/54. Class 86 In a mixing and kneading machine, kneading rolls 7 art disposed in the annular space between a central rotor 2 and a cylindrical mixing container 1, and the axis of each kneading roll 7 has relative angular movement, with respect to the container 1, in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the rotor 2. The rotor 2, Fig. 1, is mounted on a shaft 4 driven by a motor 6, and shafts 8 carrying the eccentric kneading rolls 7 are driven from the shaft 4 through gearing 11, 12. The shafts 8 are rotatably mounted in a carrier 9 and the engagement of pinions 13 on the shafts 8 with a fixed gear wheel 14 causes planetary rotation of the rolls 7 when the shaft 4 is driven Scrapers 19, 20 are secured to the bottom of the stationary container 1, and wall scrapers 18 are attached to the carrier 9. In a modification the kneading roll shafts 8 are mounted in a fixed member 29, Fig. 3, and the container 21 is driven through gearing 25, 26, 27 in the same direction as the rotor 2 is driven. The rotor 2 may be provided with beater cams 33, Fig. 5. Alternatively the rotor 2 is composed of toothed discs 34 which whip through the teeth of stationary comb bodies 36. The kneading rolls may comprise three equispaced eccentric discs 37, 39, Fig. 10, or a screw-like kneading roll 40, Fig. 9. Specification 680,309 is referred to.
