The mixing and kneading machine has a worm shaft (3) that is rotated in housing and at the same time the worm shaft moving in an axial direction in a translatory manner. The ratio of worm shaft outer diameter to worm shaft inner diameter lies between 1.5 and 2.0. The ratio of worm shaft outer diameter to hub lies between 4 and 6. The ratio of partition to hub lies between 1.3 and 2.5. An independent claim is also included for a method for the execution of continuous preparation processes by a mixing and kneading machine.
