[Also in Group XXVIII] To connect two appliances to a source of supply at a distance from the appliances, a reel is provided consisting of two similar halves 1, 2 bolted together and having a length of cable 17 wound thereon and connected at one end to the supply. The other end of the cable passes through the wall of the reel hub and is connected to socket contacts 11, 12 retained in recesses in one end wall of the hub by a plate 14 and adapted to receive a plug on the lead to one appliance. A further set of contacts 11, 12 adapted to receive a plug on the lead to the other appliance and connected in parallel with the first set of contacts, is mounted in the other end wall of the hub. The external faces of the end walls of the hub project to form bearing surfaces 22 which fit in the side plates 24, Fig. 6, of a carrier for the reel, whereby the reel may be rotated therein to wind on the cable 17.
