摘要
780,873. Lawn-mowers. QUALCAST, Ltd. Jan. 12, 1956 [Feb. 4, 1955], No. 3347/55. Classes 6(2) and 6(3). In a lawn-mower, e.g. having a grass-cutter or grass-thrower such as a rotary bladed cylinder 8 or rotary scythe, a handle 1 is movable by a spring 2 or gravity or both, from a position, such as that shown, in which it will be held by a pedestrian for operation of the machine, to another position, Fig. 3 (not shown), in which it is inconvenient for normal operation and cuts out the application of power from a unit 6 to the cutter or thrower. As shown, when the spring 2 pulls the released handle 1 in an anticlockwise direction, the handle, a lug attached thereto or an extension 3 thereof strikes a lug 13 on a pedal 12 and breaks a toggle arrangement of a link 4 and lever 5 so that the pivoted power unit 6, previously held up by depression of the pedal 12 and the making of the toggle, swings downward anticlockwise about its pivot to slacken and thus stop the belt drive 10 to the cutter 8. The toggle may be broken by the handle 1 or its extension engaging a link thereto instead of acting on the lug 13.
