Class 141 A girdle comprising inelastic front and rear panels 11, 13 (not shown) and circumferentially stretchable side panels 12 is provided with lower side panels 16 stretchable in directions parallel with their inclined upper edges 17. Behind the upper part of the front panel 11, there is secured a further inelastic panel 20 provided with pockets 28-31 for stiffeners 24-27 of the flattened wire coil type. The pockets cross at 34, 35, 36. The stiffeners 28, 31.extend the full length of their pockets, but the stiffeners 29, 30 extend only down to the points 33 so as not to cross the stiffeners 28, 31. An elastic band 14 is provided at the top of the girdle.
