A suppressor capacitor 8 is attached to a motor, e.g. in a vacuum cleaner, by a spring stirrup 13 which may be rocked about one limb 12 to allow the insertion of the capacitor on a support 9. Resilience provided by a handle loop 15 enables a range of capacitors to be accommodated. In the form shown, the stirrup end 12 has a T-shaped end (not shown) co-operating with a slot 11 in a projection on the support 9, the T-head engaging in a groove 17 to prevent displacement. The stirrup could alternatively be secured by having an eye formed on it to engage a pin attached to any convenient part of the motor. The stirrup may be of spring steel band or wire, or of springy plastic.
