[Also in Group XI] A modification of the clothes airer of Specification 821,560 is also usable as a towel rail and comprises a supporting frame 10 and a heating frame 11 pivoted on the frame 10 for movement between two positions in each of which both frames contact the floor to support each other. In the towel rail position, shown in Fig. 1, ends 29 of end plates 20 rest on the floor the upper parts of curved side members 16 being vertical and in the open position, shown in Fig. 2, the frame 10 tilts so that rails 18 overhang the frame 11 which has waterproofed electrical heating elements 23 enclosed in an open mesh grid 26. The elements 23 are connected in series or in parallel, to provide different heats, by mercury switches operated automatically or by ordinary switches operated by catches, on reversal of the frame 11. The frame 11 is locked in each position by a clip 33 and by pins 31 operated by handles 34 and engaging apertures in the frame 10 and a heat-retaining and dust cover may be provided. In a modification, the current is switched off in the position shown in Fig. 1, a thermostat is included in the circuit and the frame 10 is sectional or hinged for storage purposes, the upper and lower parts of the side members 16 being at an angle to each other.
