[Also in Division B7] The inner surfaces of a jet propulsion nozzle 13 formed by thrust reverser flaps 18 and fixed side walls 17 are cooled by air issuing from an annular duct 12 surrounding a fixed convergent nozzle 11. A ring of valves 15 are operated by the mechanism controlling flaps 18 to prevent reverse flow in duct 12 when the flaps are positioned for thrust reversal (see Division B7). The flaps 18 are pivotable about the axis 48 to define the thrust reversal position, and about an axis 46 to vary the cross-sectional area of the nozzle.
