A carrier having a frame 5, 6, 6SP1/SP has a retractable wheel unit 10 carrying brackets 11 and wheels 12 pivotally mounted on a bar 9 secured between the uprights 5. When the wheel unit is rotated downwardly by the member 16 the wheels are housed in the recesses 15a clear of the ground. The member 16 is telescopically associated with the handle 16SP1/SP which may also be collapsed downwardly, the pin 22 retaining the members 16 and 16SP1/SP in their extreme positions.
