Improvements in and relating to implements mid-mounted on tractors

Means for mid-mounting a beet-topping device on a tractor comprises a cantilever 24 underslung beneath the tractor chassis so as to be adjustable transversely, the cantilever carrying the beet-topper at its outer end, the cantilever support consisting of brackets 22 bolted to the gearbox 10 of the tractor and carrying a plate 27 to which the cantilever is adjustably secured by clamps 41. The beet-topper comprises a bracket 50 having bearings for upper and lower cross-shafts 55, 56 on which are pivoted parallel links 63, 64 pivoted at their other ends to a vertical link 66. The shaft 56 and a shaft 68 carry sprockets 75, 77 entrained by a chain to carry the drive from a shaft 127, connected to the power-take-off, to a set of feeler-discs 110 mounted on the shaft 68. The topping knife 81 is carried by a stem 80 secured, by a single clamp 96, 101 to a bracket 79 on the link 66, the clamp enabling both lateral and vertical adjustment of the stem. The whole topping unit is floatingly supported by a spring-loaded rod 86, 88 attached to a lever 82 by which it may be lifted.
