[Also in Group XX] A photo-cell for controlling a camera diaphragm is in the form of a layer deposited upon the diaphragm vanes. A fixed vane 1 with a photo-sensitive layer 6 co-operates with a moving vane 3 with a photo-sensitive layer 8a to define an aperture 2. The layer 8a is either so shaped that the total photosensitive area exposed is constant or so that it is a desired function of the illumination. The notch 5 in vane 3 may be closed, and both vanes may be rotatable. The several portions of the photocell may be connected in series or parallel, and resistances provided to account for film sensitivity.
