A new or improved bituminous composition

A bituminous composition which can be laid "cold" and will set rapidly under atmospheric conditions comprises a graded aggregate all passing a 1/4 inch B.S. sieve, fluxed bitumen and additional flux, which may be gas oil alone or in admixture with kerosine or white spirit. The additional flux may vary from 66% gas oil by weight to 34% kerosine for use in winter to 34% gas oil and 66% kerosine for use in summer. Preferably the composition comprises 7-7,5% by weight of fluxed bitumen, 0,5% by weight of additional flux and the remainder graded aggregate. The aggregate is dried by heating, cooled to 100-130 DEG F. and mixed with fluxed bitumen, which has been heated at 130 DEG F. and the additional flux, mixing being continued till all the particles are thoroughly coated and the mixture uniform, the mixing temperature not exceeding 130 DEG F.
