Waste areas 14 around blanks defined in a sheet of cardboard or synthetic resin material by weakening lines are removed in succession from a stack of such sheets by a rotatable stripping tool which is moved downwardly in contact with the side of the stack. The tool is provided with a toothed disc 8 which is mounted in a handle 11 and motor-driven through a flexible shaft 10; a guide 13 serves to contact the side of the stack and a guide 15 serves to direct the flow of rapidly torn-off waste areas 14. The leading face of each tooth may be formed with corrugations or be suitably treated for increasing its friction action. Instead of the disc being toothed as shown, it can have a circular or wave-formed circumference made wholly or in part of materials having a high coefficient of friction.
