A tyre carcase 1 is repaired by applying and vulcanizing to the inner surface of the carcase a plurality of layers 3 of parallel-cord fabric the cords of which are of the same extensibility as the carcase cords, the layers 3 being applied separately with the cords of all the layers extending parallel to a common direction, which may be at 90 degrees to the mid-circumferential plane, and decreasing in length and width successively from the innermost layer which covers the damaged area to provide a feathered perimeter. The number of layers may be 25 to 75% that of the carcase plies and the layers may extend from bead to bead. The cords of the layers may be nylon.
