摘要
In a method of washing gases from the combustion of waste sulphite or sulphate liquors to remove chlorides therefrom the hot gases are passed through a horizontal conduit at a gas velocity of 10-20 metres per second and washed therein with water at a temperature of 0-98 DEG C. injected as droplets with an average size of 0,1-0,5mm. in an amount in excess of the amount required to saturate the gases with moisture, the excess being such that the temperature of the gas is lowered to 0,2-2,0 DEG C. below the dew point of the saturated gases. The water may be injected from flat nozzles directed transversely of the direction of flow of the gases or from conical jets directed counter-currently to the gas flow. The water injected preferably has a temperature between 0 DEG C. and 20 DEG C., an average droplet size of 0,15-0,3 mm. The amount of water injected may be 0,05-0,2 litres per cubic metre of gas (normal conditions). Washing liquid is separated from the gases in a spray condenser.
