摘要

A composition suitable for use in the treatment of synthetic polyester textile materials comprises an aqueous dispersion containing a water insoluble crystallizable copolymer having within a single molecule (a) sufficient repeat units identical with those forming the crystallizable portions of the polyester from which the textile materials are made to confer crystallizability on the compound and (b) at least one polyoxyalkylene group serving to modify the surface of the treated materials the copolymer having a melting point above 100 DEG C. when measured by the temperature of disappearance of birefringence, and a dye, pigment or optical brightening agent which is chemically not combined with the copolymer. The dye, pigment or brightening agent may be incorporated into the dispersion, at any stage up to the application of the dispersion to the textile materials, e.g. during synthesis of the copolymer, to the molten copolymer or to the dispersion of the copolymer. Suitable optical brightening agents are 2-cyano-4-naphtha triazolyl-41-chlorostilbene, 2,5 - bis - (tertiary butylbenzoxazol-2yl) thiophene, 1,2-bis-(6-methylbenzoxazol2-yl) ethylene and 31-methylpyrazol-11-yl-3phenyl coumarin. Dyes may be added to the aqueous copolymer dispersion either as a preformed dispersion or as a solution in a suitable solvent, e.g. an ethylene oxide condensate of nonylphenol or of an alcohol. The aqueous dispersion may also contain an antioxidant, e.g. bis - (3 - methyl - 6 - tertiarybutylphenol) - 4,41sulphide bis - (2 - hydroxy - 3 - a - methylcyclohexyl 5 methylphenyl methane and zinc di-isopropyl dithiophosphate. The copolymer may be prepared from dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol of average molecular weight 1540.ALSO:Textile materials made from essentially linear crystallisable fibre-forming polyesters or copolyesters are treated with an aqueous dispersion containing a water insoluble crystallisable copolymer having within a single molecule (a) sufficient repeat units indentical with those forming the crystallisable portions of the fibre-forming polymer to confer crystallisability on the compound and (b) at least one polyoxyalkalene group serving to modify the surface of the treated materials, the copolymer having a melting point above 100 DEG C. When measured by the temperature of disappearance of birefringence, and a dye, pigment or optical brightening agent which is chemically not combined with the copolymer and then heating. The textile materials may be padded with the aqueous dispersion, the aqueous phase evaporated and the materials then heated at 100 DEG -250 DEG C for 5-120 seconds. The dye, pigment or brightening agent may be incorporated in the dispersion at any stage up to application of the dispersion to the materials, e.g. during synthesis of the copolymer, to the molten copolymer or to the dispersion of the copolymer. Suitable optical brightening agents are 2 - cyano - 4 - naphthatriabolyl - 4sv - chlorostilbene, 2, 5 - bis (tertiarybutylbenzoxazol - 2 - yl) thiophene, 1, 2 - bis (6 - methyl benzoxazol - 2 yl) ethylene and 3sv - methylpyrazol - 1sv - yl - 3 - phenyl coumarin. Dyes may be added to the aqueous copolymer dispersion either as a preformed dispersion or as a solution in a suitable solvent, e.g. an ethylene oxide condensate of nonylphenol or of an alcohol. The aqueous dispersion may also contain an antioxidant, e.g. bis (3 - methyl - 6 - tertiary butylphenol) 4, 4sv - sulphide, bis (2 - hydroxy - 3 - a - methylcyclohexyl - 5 - methyl phenyl) methane and zinc di-isopropyl dithiophosphate. Fabrics comprising polyethylene terephthalate fibres along or in admixture with cotton, viscose rayon or wool fibres may be treated.
