The pivotally adjustable blades 16 of a cooling air fan are in their maximum pitch position until the wind force on the blades overcomes the force of a spring 22 acting on a sliding sleeve 15 connected through cranks 13 to the blade pivots 12, the force of spring 22 being adjusted by a thermostat 17 subject to the cooling air temperature. The cranks 13 have pins 14 engaging slots in the sleeve 15 and the thermostat 17 is adjustably mounted in a plate 20 fastened to the hub 11 and provided with holes 20SP1/SP through which passes cooling air from radiator 21, corresponding outlet passages 24 being provided in the hub.
