Stacks 5, Fig. 1, of sheets of different lengths are accommodated in compartments in a holder 2 with their upper edges staggered as shown. The top sheet of a selected stack is separated by a friction roller 12 and fed upwardly through a slit 8 and over a guide plate 7 to a machine table 1. The roller 12 is mounted on arms 11 pivoted on a shaft 10 and driven by belts 14 from a disc 16, Fig. 2. A wheel 17 is continuously driven, the discs 16 being held by stop rods 21 in a position with cut-outs in alignment with the wheel. When a selected button 24 is pressed, a spring 20 rotates the disc into driving engagement with the wheel to separate the selected sheet.
