[Also in Division E1] A rectangular floor tile comprises a sheet of wood chipboard bonded to a sheet of foamed polyvinylaromatic resin, the chipboard sheet having a groove in each of two adjacent edges and either a similar groove or a matching tongue in each of the remaining edges. The components of the chipboard are preferably bonded together by a phenol- or urea-formaldehyde resin. Specified resins are polystyrene, polyvinyltoluene, polyol-methyl styrene and copolymers of styrene with methyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile and butadiene. Specified adhesives for the bonding together of the layers are rubber latex, polyvinyl acetate and bitumen. The resin layers may have channels which may be resin lined therein.
