摘要
A slack adjuster for an hydraulically operated disc brake includes a cam within the operating cylinder and rotationally spring-biased to take up the slack. When the piston shown is advanced by fluid pressure any gap which might open between the spring disc 8 and the surface of an eccentric cam 6 is taken up by rotation of the cam due to a helical spring (7, Fig. 2, not shown) mounted on a shaft 5. When the brake is released the return force is sufficient to collapse a spring disc 8 to provide brake clearance but insufficient to rotate the cam. Mechanical operation of the brake is effected by a lever which rotates a shaft having an eccentric portion 5. The eccentric disc can be restored to its initial position during friction pad replacement by reverse rotation of shaft 5 and thus the helical spring thereon.
