An electric discharge tube, e.g. a klystron, has a cavity resonator 1 which includes two mutually spaced walls 3, 4 connected together and spaced from one another by a third tubular wall 5 at least a portion of which, 5A, is deformable, but not readily or easily bent to vary the length of the third wall and therefore to vary the separating distance between the two mutually spaced walls. The walls are preferably circular in form, and one of the walls 4 has a central post portion 2. The deformable wall 5 is preferably constructed with a convolution or bellows-like bend 5A in its length, and its length is varied by a screw 11 threaded through lugs 9, 10; the deformation is either asymmetrical with respect to the axis in which case one screw 11 is employed, or the deformation is symmetrical, several screws being provided around the axis of the tube 5.
