A hollow seat 3 is adapted to rest on the upper edge of a lavatory pan and formed to have a hollow rear extension 4, an air extractor 10 and a filter pack 11 in the extension 4 and an extraction duct formed in the seat 3 with equidistant intake openings 6 around the inner edge thereof and comprising branches, one in each half of the seat 3, on the suction side of the air extractor 10, operating in parallel. The extension 4 has an opening to discharge air to atmosphere or an exhaust pipe to do so. The pack 11 .contains activated charcoal or foamed plastics.
