Arylsulphonyl ureas with hypoglycaemic activity for treating diabetes.. are new cmpds. of formula (I) (where R1 is H, F, Cl or Br, lower alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkanoyl or -NH2; R2 is H or R1 and R2 together form -(CH2)4-), including their salts with (in)organic bases. They are prepared by reacting a functional deriv. of tetrahydro-3H-3-benzazepine-3-carboxylic acid (A), particularly the acid chloride, with a sulphonamide (II). (where R'1 is as R1 or a group which can be converted to -NH2 by hydrolysis, reduction or reductive cleavage) or with an alkali metal deriv. of (II); if necessary converting R'1 to -NH2 and opt. converting the product to a salt. (I) can be administered by mouth or by injection.
