Preferably, belt 46 is vibrated by an oscillating guide roller 44. Belt 46 may comprise fabric, rubber or resin optionally with an aluminium or stainless steel layer or may comprise a non-magnetic metal sheet. Belt 46 may run parallel to the drum for a distance to act as a development electrode being spaced from the drum by a plate (147) Fig. 4 (not shown). Belt 43 may comprise fabric or rubber with magnetic insets (21b) Figs.2A, 2B (not shown). Excess toner is cleared from drum 31 by a brush 49 of cotton, feathers, paper or silk; the deveoped image is transferred, and drum 31 is cleared by a brush 55 of similar materials to those of brush 49.
