An ink feed-bar for a fountain pen comprises a nib-support block and a stem of smaller cross-sectional dimension than the block, the stem having a single capillary channel continued by a capillary channel in the block feeding directly into one end of a wide hollow space of capillary depth located beneath the nib. In one form, a shallower space 14, Fig. 2, of approximately pear-shape in plan is formed in the support block 11 which rests on base part 36, Fig. 4, of a semi-cylindrical bore in the point-section 33 of the pen. A substantial part of the inner surface 23 of the nib 24 covers the space 14 which extends lengthwise beneath the split in the nib. The sides 27, 28 of the nib engage recesses in the bar 11. A semi-circular stem extension 43 of the bar 11 has a longitudinal groove opening into a circular bore 55 leading to the reservoir, the longitudinal groove communicating with the space 14 by channels 49, 51 in the block 11. An air passage 52 in the point section 33 of the pen communicates with an annular space 56 surrounding the extension 43 of the bar 11. According to another embodiment, the shallow space 61, Fig. 9, in the feedbar has in plan a roughly rectangular shape bounded by edges 73 ... 75 and a tapered part 76, and is shallower along the pen axis than at the sides, Fig. 8 (not shown). A groove 81 connects the space 61 to a groove 79 in a semicylindrical stem extension 80 which passes through a tubular part 95, Fig. 12, of a member 97 frictionally fitted into the point section of the pen. The inner edge 96 of the part 95 serves for puncturing an ink cartridge placed in the pen. A space 86, Fig. 14, in the point section 85 for receiving the feed-bar has a flat surface 88 engaging the lower surface of the bar. Below the surface 88 are grooves 92, 93 closed at the front end 94, Fig. 12, and for receiving surplus ink, and an air inlet groove 89 open at the front end.
